The ARK strives to help youth succeed in school and develop study habits and skills that will allow them to excel in college and the workforce.  Trained staff members provide a quiet environment for homework and tutoring, as well as academic based programs for students to explore their interests and passions.

College Readiness discussions take place regularly for juniors and seniors in high school, providing information about college visits, tours, financial aid, scholarships, and college standards. Individual guidance is also offered for students who would benefit from one-on-one, focused attention.

The journalism program offers high school students an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in broadcast and print journalism.  Youth are challenged to think critically while exploring various ways to tell stories that impact their community.

Homework Assistance is one of the few activities at The ARK that is mandatory. Youth are expected to do their homework from 4 pm-5 pm Monday-Thursday. During this time, students also receive 1 on 1 assistance with completing school assignments.

The ARK has a STEM program, geared towards exposing youth to project based learning activities in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.  Each of these explorations include real world, project based learning activities that demonstrate to children how knowledge of STEM is aligned to areas of their everyday lives.  Students engage in projects such as building a rocket ship and creating a bird feeder to increase their desire to learn more about STEM and to increase their 21st Century learning skills.

The ARK offers additional academic assistance outside of homework time for youth that look to increase their vocabulary skills, reading comprehension, and test taking skills.
